Known for its rainforests, beaches and blend of cultural influences, Malaysia is fast becoming a sought after tourist destination. The country’s two giant land masses to offer so much to see and do that you could quite easily spend weeks adventuring them. Here are some of the top locations that you don’t want to leave off your list.

Penang

Eager to try some of the best Malay cuisine on offer? Penang Island is the place to satisfy your taste buds, offering a wide array of restaurants. The historic George Town is a must-see, sporting architecture that is a melting pot of British colonialism, Chinese influences and Indian culture. Its influences come from being located on one of the world’s most popular shipping routes. Anyone into their marine history can learn a lot about it at one of the area’s many museums.

Most probably most of us got hooked with Lego blocks when we were young or perhaps until now?  I admit that sometimes I do play Lego blocks with my kids.  I still enjoy assembling those pieces of blocks and find joy and satisfaction that I was able to build a complicated piece just by looking at the sample on the Lego box. 

When me and my hubby went out on a date last Sunday for his birthday treat for me, we happen to pass by a Lego display exhibit at The Block, SM City North EDSA.  I would have not have the interest to get close to the display because we have not brought the kids with us, but when I had a glimpse of what was being exhibited in the barricaded area, my enthusiasm ignited and more so my wanderlust striked me.

What we saw are replicas of iconic landmarks and structures from different countries in Asia.  I was impressed by those structures at how they were intricately formed from pieces of Lego blocks.  I just couldn’t imagine how much time and effort they spent in order to finish one replica.

Here are the eight iconic landmarks in Asia on display:

Himeji Castle of Japan, regarded as the finest surviving Japanese architecture 

Taj Mahal of India, regarded as one of the eight wonders of the world due to its unsurpassed architectural beauty

Rizal Monument of the Philippines

Wat Mahathat of Thailand.  Regarded as one of the ten royal temples of the highest class in Bangkok.

Merlion of Singapore.  A landmark which personifies Singapore.

Taipei 101, skyscraper of Taiwan which is one of the tallest building in the world.

I couldn’t help myself being amazed and at the same time entertained, just by looking at each structure.  I was happy to be brought back again to some of those places that I was able to see in real life, likewise, I also enjoy looking at and admiring the others, and somehow imagining that someday I will also be able to visit those iconic landmarks that I haven’t seen yet such as Taj Mahal, Taipei 101, Great Wall of China, Himeji Castle of Japan and Wat Mahathat of Thailand.

Our two days stay in Cititel Express Hotel Kuala Lumpur

     Cititel Express was our home for two days when we traveled in Kuala Lumpur, it is located in Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman.  We booked two rooms which include breakfast, one triple sharing and the other one deluxe queen.  When we travel, most often we include breakfast so we don't have to worry where to eat early in the morning when we wake up so that after eating, we can clean ourselves and we can go out early and have more time to visit many places to explore. The hallway to the rooms are quite big and clean, as well as the inside room.

     I could still recall out trip in Kuala Lumpur back in 2009 it was the last day of October then, I remembered there was a coming strong typhoon which will hit Metro Manila and its nearby towns.  On our way to Ninoy Aquino International Aiport terminal 3 we heard from the news on radio that airlines were cancelling their flights for that night, we were worried that our flight might be included.  But fate is with us, Cebu Pacific did not cancelled flight to Kuala Lumpur and leave at exactly 8:55 p.m.
