| This is where the fun begins |
Right after sightseeing Singapore city via the Duck Tour we took a cab from Suntec City mall and headed to Vivo City where we have to catch the special train specifically going to Sentosa Island. It is the biggest theme park in Singapore which offers a lot of activity to enjoy and in fact you can spend your whole day in Sentosa Island to be able to see and experience all.
It was drizzling when we arrived in Sentosa Island and the clouds are getting dark which seems like it will pour a heavy rain, but then we headed to sloping walkways that are covered by wooden trellis and the flooring are tiled so it was slippery going up and my flat sandals was skidding so I was far left behind. And it was even more a struggle to me when we used that path when we descended.
The view on top was so marvelous and looking back on the distance from where we start our walk we were so relieved that it stopped drizzling while were on the middle of the sloping path.
Colorful ponds greeted us on top and they are arranged in the middle of the park and its design depicts the different sea creatures, we stayed there for quite some time because we were entertained by the alternating spew of water from the sea creatures, you’ll get clueless which one will spurt water next which was so exciting to see.
Every ponds design is different from one another that’s why we never missed seeing any from the first in line to the very end where the back of the big Merlion can be seen.
We headed to the giant Merlion and it began drizzling again until it rained and good thing there were umbrellas where we stayed for awhile and at the same time rested until the rain stopped. The weather in Singapore is either rainy or sunny so it’s best to always bring a folding umbrella while on travel and wear light clothing.
There’s a nearby souvenir shop and although were already hungry we just passed by the cafeteria at the entrance, although the pastries looks yummy and the smell of hot coffee was inviting and would be perfect to warm us, but Ooops we proceeded straight to the souvenir items to satisfy our hunger to shop...anyway after our buying spree we satisfied our stomach.
Our next destination was the sky ride, I tried it and my heart leaped out when the ride lifted us on the ground. It is comparable to cable car, but the difference is that the sky ride is open, unlike cable car wherein you are seated in an enclosed cubicle and can contain up to 5 or more persons, while the sky ride can accommodate three persons per seat and you’re just like sitting on a flying bench.
We tried the Luge next to get us down from the hill where the end point of the Sky ride, it is an option for you to get down easily without having to walk far from the next destination you plan to go. The Luge is a non-motorized three wheel cart which the single rider controls the speed of the cart. Since it was my first time to ride this kind of vehicle I got panicky so I was so slow and I remembered there was this guy behind me talking loudly, and I don’t know if he was angry or telling me to speed up, I could not understand him because he spoke a different language so I just let him pass. It was easier driving a real car than the Luge, but I had a great fun!
We came across a beach while we were strolling around and this beach is still part of Sentosa Island attraction because of its idyllic setting, pristine clear water and white sands. We just walk along the coastline while savoring the fresh air and peaceful ambiance.
Our last destination was to watch a show called ‘Songs of the Sea’ it is a musical live show performance with fountain, lights, flames and pyrotechnics combined which made the dark surrounding shimmer.
It was a fantastic show which started with real people interacting and singing, there were 4 to 5 casts which represents the different culture of Singapore which are Chinese, Indian, British and Malay.
Although we were not able to get a seat in the train because it was already full of passengers, we were still lucky that to catch the last train going back to Vivo City.
