See A Lion In The Wild, Gaze Up At Pyramids, Visit Africa!

On this post, we’re going to talk about something a little different. While most of my posts are based around my travels around the Philippines , I thought today we could look at somewhere I have always wanted to visit. It’s a place that is definitely on my bucket list, and I’m sure it’s on yours as well. I’m talking about the continent of golden sands and captivating experiences that is Africa. I think this is a place in the world that everyone should visit at least once in their lives. There is nothing quite like this part of the globe as you’re about to discover. Today we’re going to look at some of the experiences you could have, tips on how to plan your holiday there and other interesting facts. Are you ready to take a trip with me on a journey like nothing you have encountered before?

Let’s look at some of the incredible experiences you could share with your family in Africa.

You’ve Never Seen Animals Like This Before

Perhaps you have visited places like zoos or safaris where you can see the animals of Africa. You might have witnessed a lion lounging around behind bars. Or, maybe even a hippo taking a dip in a place the size of a swimming pool. But this isn’t what the animals are like in their natural habitats. To see that you have to go on a proper safari and the only place to do this is in Africa. As the sun rises across a gorgeous golden terrain, you’ll be able to take a vehicle off the roads to see these animals up close like never before. Imagine, hearing a lion roar as it watches over its pride.  Or perhaps, just seeing a meerkat poke its head out of the sand. You might even spot a rhinoceros grazing in the distance. There will be silence, except for the sounds of these animals, completely oblivious to your presence.

You might be worried about the safety of these types of safaris. It’s understandable because these are free roaming wild animals that we’re talking about. You may also have heard of the threat of poachers. But, in Africa, there are numerous national parks, free from these dangers and carefully watched over by staff. You can even choose to take a car out solo or journey with a tour guide on your safari drive.

There are also different times of day where you can journey across the land. So, if you’re brave enough, you could take a car out in the twilight. After all, Africa only truly comes alive under the light of a pale moon.

Achievements That Make You Wonder…

The Safaris can be found scattered across the southern side of Africa. If you’re in the North region of the continent, you must set out to explore Egypt. There you will, of course, be able to gaze at the massive Pyramids built by slaves centuries ago. It’s incredible to think that these monuments, towering into the skies, were built solely by human hands. When you are standing in the shadow of these achievements of architecture, I can only imagine you will wonder if there is more to them than meets the eyes.

Similar to the safaris, you are free to explore exterior of the pyramids by yourself. Though, I would certainly look to find a guided tour around the land. It is only then you will find the mysteries behind the stone.

It’s true to say that tourist numbers towards Egypt have declined in recent years. However, as long as you check for news updates and you act sensibly Egypt is still a safe place to travel. I recommend you have a look at exploring the pyramids around the outer region of Giza.

Two Words, One Place: Cape Town

Heading back into the south of the continent now, I can’t help but mention the incredible location, Cape Town. Situated in the heart of Africa this beautiful region is world famous for hosting the World Cup a number of years ago. Now, it boasts one of the most culturally diverse regions on the globe with plenty of exciting opportunities for tourists. The sprawling region of Cape Town holds many exciting possibilities with beaches and mountains. You will be amazed at just how gorgeous this place is. It may be at the bottom of Africa, but it is still a modern marvel and one of the most popular destinations in the world.

While in Cape Town, you can take a cable car all the way to the top of Table Mountain. Don’t let the name deceive you because this peak is anything but flat. It towers over the region and gives tourists a tremendous, breathtaking view of the entire place. On a clear day, you’ll be able to see miles across the horizon.

Or, if you’re just interested in working on your tan, Cape Town is still the perfect location. It boasts miles of golden sand that rival some of the best beaches in the world. You’ll love dining at one of the beach restaurants as the sun begins to set, painting the ocean beautiful colours.

Remember, I said you’d never seen animals life this before? Well, where in the world, can you see penguins roaming freely across a beach? A few miles from where you're staying you’ll be able to find a beach dotted with adorable penguins. I can’t think of anywhere else where that’s a possibility.

Choose Your Adventure

I’ve been picking some things I love dreaming about doing in Africa. But the fact is that once you get there, you really can choose your adventure. Care for an example? What would you say if I told you that in Africa you can swim to the edge of one of the largest waterfalls in the world? You’d probably call me crazy, but it’s true. The Devil's Pool is a natural phenomenon at the top of Victoria Falls in Africa . There, in the shallow season, you can swim out to the edge of the fall and stare down at the abyss below. It’s perfectly safe due to a naturally formed rock wall beneath the surface. Though I admit, you’d have to be something of a daredevil, it’s just one of the adventures that await across this incredible continent.
